Malaysian Football

Most Malaysians out there are football fans, be it male or female. I can bet you in an average family there is at least one fella who's a football fanatic. Even in my family there's 4 football fans with four different teams and only my mom doesn't follow. Growing up in a family with four different teams is pretty difficult you know because of the constant  bickering about which team is better and the fights to watch their team play on the telly since we only have one.

The main man of the family, my dad, is a hardcore Liverpool supporter and next is me a Gunners fan since 1997. The younger two in the family are what u would say in Malay, a lalang, as they switched clubs a few times. My second brother supported Arsenal until 2006 but switched to Chelsea after Arsenal's form dipped and the youngest fella switched from Arsenal to Liverpool and then to Man United ( Real Gloryhunters there).

Football is really an integral part of Malaysians. Dont believe me?? just step into a Mamak restaurant on a match night and feast your eyes on the passion that football creates in Malaysians. Fans gather in huge numbers and lepak at Mamaks to watch football.

One question always ponders me, if Malaysians have passion for football? how com they arent good in the international stage. I just cant seem to get that question out of my head. Like when are we gonna qualify for the World Cup?? I know we are a tiny nation but that aint an excuse, look at Holland or Spai, they are not that big of a nation but they are still able to qualify and even win the tournament. Football is in our blood but we cant seem to show it when it matters most.

Although the National team is doing quite well these days we still have a long way to go. One thing that we can be really proud of is the turnout at the local league games which has been really impressive, I gotta praise  these fellas for attending the games. The Kelantanese fans are amazing. Lets hope the players improve. The FAM has to get their shit together and do something to improve Malaysian football.

My wish has always been to either play for Arsenal FC or for the Malaysian National Team to qualify for the World Cup before i die. Lets hope at least the latter comes true as i know i cant play for Arsenal.

This is my first entry as a blogger, i hope u ppl like it and there are more nicer posts coming in the future.
